The Lewis School of Health Sciences houses many exciting educational opportunities for our PT, PA, OT and Bioethics students such as state-of-the-art facilities, exceptional passing rates on national certifying exams, intimate class sizes, and world-class educators.
Occupational Therapy MS Program
The Master of Science in Occupational Therapy degree consists of 92 credit hours and can usually be completed in 27 months. Graduates of the program are eligible to sit for the National Certification Examination for the Occupational Therapist, administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). In 2019, 100% of Clarkson graduates sitting for certification passed. The Clarkson Assistive Technology Resource and Education Center is a project of our Occupational Therapy Program, serving as a resource for our campus, local, and regional communities.

Physical Therapy DPT Program
The Physical Therapy program offers the Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. The program is a 101-credit full-time, post-baccalaureate curriculum that takes two and two-thirds years to complete. The Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) National Physical Therapy Licensure Ultimate Exam pass rate for Clarkson University graduates was 100% (based upon a two-year average from 2018 and 2019). According to survey results, 100% of program graduates responding who sought jobs as physical therapists were employed as physical therapists within 12 months.

Physician Assistant Studies MS Program
The Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies degree is offered in a curriculum spanning 28 consecutive months. Accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for the Physician Assistant. The faculty has a variety of clinical backgrounds as do the local health care providers utilized for rotations. The Lewis School utilizes clinical sites in St. Lawrence and surrounding counties as well as more distant sites. Students receive clinical experience in a variety of healthcare settings while serving diverse populations.

All three of our graduate programs are housed in the historical and newly renovated Clarkson Hall, including classrooms, offices, research laboratories, a cadaver lab, a health sciences library, an assistive technology lab and a simulation facility.
Professional Partnerships
The Health Sciences programs benefit from close cooperation with the St. Lawrence Health System. Its flagship facility, Canton-Potsdam Hospital (CPH), is within a mile of campus and provides students the opportunity to interact with patients and medical staff.
Inter-professional Education
The Health Sciences are housed in the Lewis School of Health Sciences, with close collaboration with the Biology, Chemistry, and Biomolecular Science and Psychology departments, as well as interconnections with the Coulter School of Engineering and the Reh School of Business.
Global Reach
Our students come from all over the United States, from as close as our own Potsdam, New York, to as far as Fairbanks, Alaska, and Miami, Florida. While many of our clinical rotation sites are local, students frequently choose sites across the country. Our DPT and PA programs also provide annual opportunities for students to undertake international service work.
Tuition Information
Clarkson scholarships help provide affordable education to students of modest means and academic excellence. These scholarships, many of which are funded by Clarkson Alumni, have made — and continue to make — a difference in the lives of our students.
The 2022-23 academic year tuition rates:
- Occupational Therapy – $10,715 per term
- Physical Therapy – $12,349 per term
- Physician Assistant Studies – $13,286 per term
Assessed to all full-time graduate students in residential programs. Covers operations for access to recreational facilities, fitness center, health center services, computing lab resources and related software, webinars, etc (Note: This is not a health insurance premium).
Covers operations for access to computing lab and online resources and related software, webinars, etc.
*Resource fee: Includes guest speakers and lecturers, computer lab resources and related software, the learning management system, Echo 360 which allows asynchronous learning sessions, voice thread and other online related services, library and database access, and free transcripts for life.
